The science of life is complex and fascinating! There are so many things to learn, from microscopic intracellular DNA to giant plants to the underground world of worms! In these lessons we’ll explore the science of living things from cells to whole creatures, and from plants to eggs and animals!
HERE’S WHAT WE’LL BE LEARNING!
Extracting DNA: What exactly is DNA, and why is it important? We’ll extract the DNA from bananas, and learn about the role of DNA in living things.
From Seed to Plant--Grow Your Own Herb Garden: We know plants come from seeds, but what exactly is inside a seed? What does a seed need to grow into a healthy plant? We’ll answer these questions, and make a small herb garden to take home, along with delicious recipes to use with your new herbs!
Fun with Eggs!: What happens when you soak an egg in vinegar? We’ll find out! Then we’ll discuss the anatomy of an egg, look at an egg that’s been soaked in vinegar, and find out why eggs change color when you cook them!
Worm Farm: Worms are important and fascinating creatures, but what do they do for us, and what would happen without them? We’ll learn all about the humble (yet important) worm, and build a worm farm to observe them at work!
