It’s our final program for the year, and summer is just around the corner! In our final fun and fabulous program, we’ll explore engineering, chemistry, and a little bit of ancient art!
Here’s what we’ll be learning:
• Butter Churn Engineering: Did you know you can make butter at home? You’ll learn how it’s done, then engineer a machine to help make the process easier—and more fun!
• Magnificent Magnets: Some magnets hang on your refrigerator, some lift whole cars in junkyards. But how can you turn a magnet on and off? We’ll discuss the difference between a permanent and an electromagnet, build a simple electromagnet, and make magnetic slime!
• (Dry) Ice Cold: Dry ice is a fascinating material, and at -109.3°F, it’s very, VERY cold! We’ll explore dry ice’s unique properties (safely, of course!), and use it to make a ghoulish beverage for the class!
• Paint by Nature: We will use pigments obtained from three natural sources--berries, leaves, and spices--to make water-based paints, and use our new paints to create artwork. We’ll also discover how to use milk to create striking and colorful patterns!
Be sure to register by April 4! Seats are limited!
